“From These Roots We Came”

ORGANIZATION MAP OF THIS SITE

As a I proceed to develop this blog site, I will try to follow the following organization pattern. I will update this page when changes are made.
The regular posts will be on the left hand side and will be posted by dates as is normally done on a blog. [Pages posted prior to today’s date will be edited to conform to this organization as soon as possible]. The Pages will be basically organized in the following manner.

  • Blog creator page
  • Ahnentafel page (with Elmer Lamar Ross as number 1) of 15 generations
  • Vignettes of Selected Ancestors (pages by ancestral lines)
  • Family Historical Accounts (Individual and Family)
  • Information Sources/Documents
  • Our Famous Relatives

When I do posts or blogs, I’ll try to always remember to put in the ahnentafel number (based on me as number 1) of the ancestor being discussed (ahnentafel numbers are discussed in one of the earlier posts and may be abbreviated as “Ahn” in the posts). That way, researchers or family members can see where these ancestors fit into our family history. They can also go to the pedigree chart (for the first 10 generations) to see where these individuals fit in.

The “About the Blog Creator” page gives information on me, Lamar Ross, the author of the blog.

The “Elmer Lamar Ross Ahnentafel” will be updated as new ancestors are added to the data base. At this time I am only publishing 15 generations, although in some lines I can go back as much as 32 generations.

Ancestral Vignettes” will be categorized as to which of the 3rd generation ancestors’ lineage it relates to: Ross (Anh 4); Owens (Ahn 5); Long (Ahn 6); Lewis (Ahn 7). This will make it useful to other collateral relatives who enter our ancestry at different points in the past.

Family Historical Accounts” with have Individual and Family historical accounts of certain family “branches” or individual accounts which do not fit well within the “Ancestral Vignettes” section.

Information Sources/Documents” will include documents such as birth records, correspondence, eulogies, marriage records, obituaries, and wills that have been transcribed from the originals.

New Materials will be added constantly. When it effects the organization of the site, the changes will be added on this page.

I sincerely hope that this blog will become a references point not only for the Ross family, but for any of the ancestral lines which make up this family, and for the collateral relatives who have married into the line in each preceding generation.

Good luck in your genealogical and family history research.

Lamar
